What every developer ought to know about environmental remediation.

If you have a Brownfield site for redevelopment chances are the land will be contaminated due to historic industrial processes.

Whether the soil is contaminated with lead, oil, solvents or heavy metals or the water is contaminated with chemicals, bacteria or rubbish I can remediate the contaminated source and provide a long term solution to eliminate the risks stopping you from being granted planning permission.

Another common contaminant in soil is asbestos, asbestos removal is where my environmental journey begun, I have a whole section on the Alltask website dedicated to Asbestos Removal, click here to be taken there.

It is essential that any contamination on a site does not pose a risk to health of workers, to the end user or to the environment either during or after a development has finished.

If you apply for planning permission on a contaminated site the application may have specific conditions attached relating to the contaminated land, these conditions will require a site investigation to determine the level of risk posed by any contaminated land.

Your site investigation must include a clear and detailed sampling strategy in accordance with BS10175:2001. If your site investigation returns a risk to workers, the end user or the environment then remediation of the contaminated land will be required.

If you need any more information on environmental remediation don’t hesitate to contact me via any of the means below and I will be more than happy to help you.

Regards
