Ridham Biomass Plant

Ridham Dock, Sittingbourne Kent

2012 Ongoing

Project Overview:

Ridham Dock Biomass Plant uses about 170,000 tonnes of waste wood that would have been exported to the continent to similar energy from waste plants prior to its opening in 2015. Alltask were involved in the construction of the facility that began in 2012 and was completed in 2015 and now produces 23megawatts. Our involvement with insulation and scaffolding is ongoing, providing maintenance, planned shut-down and emergency works.

Recent emergency shut down works required Siemens repair a turbine. To gain access all turbine, lagging had to be removed and pipework disassembled. In a 24 hour window Alltask produced full working drawings of the lagging schematics as there weren’t any “as built” drawings available (O&Ms). Hundreds of brittle insulation panels had to be numbered, drawn, mapped, then cleaned and stored before they could be refitted by carefully stitching them back together in their unique order on completion of the turbine repairs.
