Bush House is a Grade II listed landmark on the Strand, originally constructed between 1925 and 1935 and once home to the BBC World Service. Its classical Portland stone façade and long-standing cultural significance make it one of London’s most recognisable historic buildings.
Alltask is delivering complex scaffolding and access solutions for our client Kier Construction, for the redevelopment of the Grade II listed Bush House.
Our works include a full‑height, fully wrapped scaffold to all elevations of the Southwest Wing, providing safe access for Portland stone cleaning, façade restoration and complete window replacement. The design incorporates multiple access lifts, loading bays and secure public protection in this busy central London environment. The scaffold also enables roof‑level works, supporting the removal of existing plant and installation of a new high‑efficiency plant room. Several temporary roof structures will be installed to safeguard the building during structural upgrades.
Alongside the refurbishment, the wider project includes The King’s Agora—a new circular 360‑degree immersive lecture space set to become a focal point for students.
