Alltask Scaffolding London School of Economics

Alltask has been appointed by McLaren Construction to deliver specialist scaffolding and access solutions as part of the refurbishment and extension works at the London School of Economics campus in central London.

The project involves working within a live university environment, surrounded by public pedestrian routes, while providing safe and reliable access to historic façades and new structural elements.

Alltask has designed, installed and maintained a comprehensive scaffolding scheme to support the phased construction programme to include:

  • Multi-storey perimeter scaffolding to multiple elevations
  • Beamed and bridged scaffolds spanning live entrances
  • Internal atrium access scaffolding
  • Temporary access stair towers
  • Encapsulation and protection to sensitive areas

All scaffolding solutions are supported by in-house design and calculations and adapted as the project progresses,

Key Challenges

  • Constrained city-centre location with limited space
  • Live pedestrian routes and operational building entrances
  • Interface with tower crane operations
  • Complex geometry around existing historic façades
  • Requirement for phased access aligned with programme demands

Our Solution
Alltask is delivering bespoke scaffolding solutions, including long-span beamed bridges to maintain uninterrupted access beneath working areas. The scaffold design allows safe working at height while minimising disruption to students, staff and the public.
Phased adaptations ensure continued support for façade, structural and internal works as the scheme evolves.

The Result
Alltask’s scaffolding is playing a key role in enabling McLaren Construction to progress works safely and efficiently within a challenging live environment.
